TEENAGE beauty, Monalisa Mugwagwa, who was crowned Miss Chitungwiza over the weekend, says she has dreams to transform the lives of her peers in Zimbabwe’s third largest urban centre.
Mugwagwa (16) shrugged off stiff competition from 14 other contestants, at the finals held at Dam View Hotel last Saturday.
Caroline Masvobho (19) was named first Princess while Sheba Shoko (20), emerged as the second Princess.
For their efforts, the three walked away with cash prizes and hampers from event sponsors, including Shamwari Yemwanasikana, GoFit, Chico Fashions and Fuxion Events.
In an interview, Mugwagwa who was representing Unit G, was elated by her finest hour.
“I am happy to be crowned Miss Chitungwiza,” she said.
“I fought so hard to win it and I want to thank the organisers for creating such an opportunity for young girls.
“I want to be known as a queen who will advocate girls’ rights, provide opportunities for young girls to pursue their dreams and conquer the world.
“I also want to use my time to fight early child marriages and teenage pregnancies amongst us girls,” said Mugwagwa.
Pageant organiser, Munashe Ngoso, said he is welcoming ideas to promote the next Miss Chitungwiza pageant.
“It was a tough contest and we are happy that a few corporates have been behind the hosting of the event.
“We are looking forward to more engagements and will not leave any girl behind as we try to grow the brand in the coming years.
“This is a platform we created for all girls in Chitungwiza and we want them to register with us in their numbers,” said Ngoso.
The event was hosted by Midfinest modelling agency and was graced by a few local renowned models.
