It’s boots on, braids back, and game time!
ZIFA has dropped the squad bomb — naming two fiery national girls’ teams set to take on Southern Africa and the world next month!
In a power-packed weekend announcement, the Zimbabwe Football Association confirmed its Under-17 and Under-20 women’s teams, both gearing up for international glory.
Coached by the unstoppable Lindiwe Ndlovu, with Yohane Chikaola as her right hand and Choice Dambuza managing the crew, the Under-17 warriors are headed for Namibia for the COSAFA Championships.
And it’s not just local talent lighting up the lineup — this squad includes UK-based stars like Mya Munyanduki (West Ridding Girls FC) and Tanyaradzwa Nyakuchena (Brighton & Hove Albion). It’s a dream team of schoolgirls, academy prodigies, and fearless fighters.
Not to be outshone, the Under-20s, coached by the tactical Garthly Chipuka, are locking in on World Cup qualifiers in Rwanda. If they knock out Rwanda, it’s a showdown with Nigeria next — and the squad is pumped.
Assisting Chipuka is Irene Mwanza, with goalkeeper coach Alice Ruzani, fitness guru Kimberley Chigwedere, and manager Edith Govere keeping the camp sharp.
Despite the team being named on Saturday, players only trooped into camp on Monday. Why the delay?
“We held on to the announcement until such a time we were sure the clubs and players had responded to the call-up by acknowledging,” said ZIFA Media.
From Blessing Mberende (Chapungu) to Linda Mbulawa (Las Palmas), the Under-20s feature ballers who are hungry for goals and glory. San Domenico’s Saliah Johnson, representing the USA, brings international firepower to the squad.
And with young queens like Ntokozo Mpofu, Nadia Semba, and Plaxina Bandason, Zimbabwe’s future looks fierce.
Zim girls aren’t just playing — they’re coming to dominate!
Stay tuned as the young warriors carry the nation’s hopes into regional and global battles. From Lobengula to London, this is the new generation of stars in the making!
