Glen View residents bemoan garbage pile-up

Glen View 3 residents have voiced their concerns over council’s failure to collect garbage from Tichagarika Shopping Centre.

Residents staying close to the centre said the trash is now a health time bomb, and council must collect it before a disease outbreak.

“We are gravely concerned about our children’s exposure to the dumpsite, which is close to houses. It’s pilling and getting worse every day,” said a resident, Shantel Moyo.

“It is our kids whose health is endangered by the garbage as they always want to go outside and play with their friends. We stop them from playing outside, but we cannot do this all the time because we are not always around,” she said.

Another resident said the trash was hindering their movement.

“I don’t live in the immediate neighbourhood, but this is the shortest route I can take to the main road when I am going to work. But I am sometimes forced to take another route when the trash piles up and blocks the whole street,” she said.
