CAPS United defender Godknows Murwira is happy after being voted among the 11 Soccer Stars of the Year finalists.
Alongside his teammate, Kingsley Mureremba, Murwira secured his spot on a calendar that was mostly dominated by Simba Bhora players.
Murwira, who was stripped of his captaincy by the club coach Lloyd Chitembwe after some disciplinary concerns, was one of the best players in the Makekepe camp.
In an interview with Zimpapers Sport, Murwira said:
“Words alone cannot describe how happy I am at the moment.
“Being part of the final 11 means a lot to me. It shows that a lot of people were seeing my efforts despite having many who criticised me.
“There is no game of football without critics so I embrace them and I don’t literally listen to the negative vibes they bring.
“Of course, the same people would say l don’t deserve but the truth is I didn’t vote for myself.
“Those who voted found it worthy and I am grateful.”
He attributed his success to the unwavering support of his teammates, acknowledging their essential role in his achievements.
“Note that without a team there is no game of football, the understanding with my fellow teammates on the field of play made me a better player.
“And, of course, you can’t go without mentioning the role of the coach, he drives us and makes us what we are. There is due credit for everyone associated with the club.
“The season has just concluded and we are taking time to recharge and spend time with family.
“There is nothing much to talk about at the moment. It’s family time and time to retrospect.”
