GOGO Mahendere says she feels blessed that all her seven children have been part of the music industry.
She attended the launch of his son Amos Mahendere’s first Amapiano Hymn Praise Volume 1 album on Saturday.
“I gave birth to seven children, who included four boys — Ackim, Amos, Michael and Misheck — and they are all in the music industry. One of my daughters died but the other two daughters are part of their brothers music groups.
“I feel blessed to have such children.
“They started singing at a tender age when I, and their late father Paul Mahendere, joined AFM in 1973.
“We later joined UFI in 2008 but Amos returned to AFM,” said Gogo Mahendere.
Her husband died in 2021.
The album has 12 tracks.
The first six songs are all pure amapiano stile and the other six are in Acapella stile.
Speaking at the same occasion, Zanu PF Deputy National Political Commissar, Webster Shamu, said:
“I recall in 2006, with Amos Mahendere, coming from a gala in Chipinge, we composed 10 songs and it is my wish to collaborate with him on one of the songs.
“The journey from Chipinge to Harare became very short because of the singing and giving praise to the Almighty God.”
Mhondoro Apostles choral group, Evangelist Timothy and Pastor Norest Matende warmed up the stage before Amos Mahendere showed guests what he meant by Amapiano gospel, a new dimension he is introducing in his musical journey.
Among the guests were Madzibaba Simba, Pastor Muchefa and AFM church elders.
