GOKWE Town Council’s director of finance, Mr Joconia Nyoni has died.
He was 63.
Mr Nyoni, who has not been well for some time, reportedly died on Monday morning at his home in Gokwe.
Gokwe Town Council Chairperson, Councilor Liscious Mutegwe confirmed the development.
“I confirm that our director of finance Mr Nyoni passed on this morning. He has not been well for the past three or so months and has been in and out of hospital. Funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course as we are still communicating with the family,” said Cllr Mutegwe.
The late Mr Nyoni was once sacked in 2020 for alleged abuse of office but bounced back after he was reinstated by the local government board in 2023.
Upon his return, he took over as Acting Town Secretary before he opted to step down for various reasons, among them his health.
