The repentance of Baron surprised many within the community of Esigodini who know his background but his humility in Bible study has been a revelation, church elders have said.

Baron’s Pastor Obvious Bukhosi  Mpofu who leads Habane Seventh  Day Adventist main branch in Esigodini said: “It was a great feeling of happiness to see Baron Dube turning to God. Church members and the community at large got happy.

“Although some people in the community were left surprised  that  Baron who was known in such  bad light had turned to God. His commitment and love of God has made them believe that indeed he has really turned to God,” said Mpofu.

He said Baron accepted Jesus as his personal saviour during a two-week long evangelism campaign.

“We had a two-week preaching and that is when Baron accepted Jesus. After that he said he wanted to be baptised and was baptised. His children had always been coming to church,” said Pastor Mpofu.

He added: “During the week two church elders and I hold a Bible session with him at his home. He seems to be interested in the word of God because he asks a lot of questions and does the assignments that we give him. We are hoping that as time goes on he will discover his spiritual gift,” said Mpofu.

When Baron was baptised he chose church elder — Nkululeko Dube — as his spiritual parent.

Elder Dube said: “I will try to be there for him and give him guidance in our Christian walk. One thing I like about him is his humility and commitment to God. He also takes advice.”
