at the Borrowdale Racecourse in Harare on May 5.
Preparations are already on course for the mammoth event that promises a lot of thrills, with models also expected to take to the ramp to showcase the kind of clothes that organisers are encouraging members of the crowd to wear on the day.
The 50 models will be dressed by fashion designers Alice Knuth, Tsitsi Mutendi and Collen Ratisai and will be dressed in the Castle colours in line with the Castle Tankard.
But it will be the inclusion of the performers that is likely to cause a lot of excitement considering that all the artistes are famous for their enthralling acts.
Although the Castle Tankard — formerly Natbrew Tankard — is a purely horse-racing event — the inclusion of the artistes will raise its appeal among the sports-loving public, who will come to witness their favourite artistes in action.
The Unicef Ambassador is expected to cause fireworks with his hit songs like “Rirongere”, “Tozeza Baba” and “Neria” among others that have endeared him with a legion of fans.
The choice of Tuku at the event is a wise one because the man is suited for occasions of that magnitude and often leaves revellers asking for more after his performance.
The “Ninja President” Winky D is another sure-fire artiste whose stage etiquette has raised his profile of late, and this has been enhanced by the fact that he is now using a live band.
He is currently riding high with the song “Taitirana” featuring female rapper Ninja Lipsy.
The dancehall maestro is one of the country’s leading musicians of the moment and he commands a wide fan base cutting across all ages.
Alexio — or simply Lex — has a way with his music that appeals to the heart and he has become a master of love and social ballads.
Those who know his songs like “Shaina” and “Karwiyo” can attest to his wizardry on the microphone and this is what he is expected to dish out at the event.
Other artistes expected to be part of the line-up of entertainers include Ba Shupi, DJs L-Roy and Storm.
