CHAPMAN will host the 2026 Zimbabwe Amateur Golf Championships from July 31 to August 2.
The annual tournament will feature seven countries who will each send representatives.
There will be an Asian flavour after the coming on board of China.
South Africa’s teenage sensation, Nathan van Rooyen, is the defending champion after his five-stroke win over Keegan Shutt last year.
This year’s edition will see Zimbabwean players being joined by golfers from Zambia, Malawi, Botswana, South Africa and Ethiopia.
The Zimbabwe Amateur Golf Championship is the country’s premier amateur tournament and is organised by the Zimbabwe Golf Association.
The tournament attracts top local and regional talent and serves as a major World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event, with the men’s winner often earning an automatic entry into the prestigious Zimbabwe Open.
Zimbabwe Golf Association president, Blessed Gandawa, said many countries have confirmed their availability.
“We are happy to be hosting this year’s edition of the Zimbabwe Amateur Golf Championship at Chapman early next month.
“So far, we have some countries who have confirmed their availability and they include the host Zimbabwe, China, Zambia, Botswana, Ethiopia, Malawi and South Africa.
“The Zimbabwe Amateur Championships is of paramount importance as it gives our upcoming golfers a chance to compete against some of the elite golfers from across the continent.
“We are happy that the home course is moving with time in terms of preparations and the course is in good state.
“We are confident that the players will get the best golf ever as Chapman is an international course, which is already ready to host world class tournaments,” said Gandawa.
