Good football administration?

From the 1960’s when I got into football as a player and the 80’s when I got in as a coach, which gives me 52 years in the industry, I haven’t come across an administrator at club level or at national level who includes players and coaches in their campaigning life after football career, yet these two people are the main actors in this industry.

Please administrators, we want to be told something new about the old. You cannot for example, interest a farmer with a description of the cathedral in Scotland.

There are too new to him but you can interest him, by relating how the Dutch farmer keeps their cows during winter under the same roof that houses the family. Sometimes the cows look out through the curtain laces.

Can someone come up with a Pension Fund Scheme to cater for these two people. It’s done in other countries all over the world.

Personally, I have now raised this issue with two past Ministers of Sport and Culture and they have failed to implement it during their terms.

I blame Zifa councillors who elect the top men and women in the mother body who do not question candidates what they have achieved on the promises made during  the last campaign.

Ladies and gentlemen,  let us be honourable and elect men and women with integrity and good morals who can show us true leadership which is an opportunity to serve, not blow a trumpet  for self importance and for them to look at the interests of the poor of the poorest.

Byo City vs FC Platinum
(B/Fields Stadium — Luveve Game)

When an American is asked to address  a gathering, he opens up his speech with a joke.

If an African opens his speech, he starts with an apology and a British starts with statics, and statics don’t lie.

Watching FC Platinum where  midfield players prioritised square passes than a forward pass, no wonder they had come from three draws in their last games.

The only time they quickly got forward was when the right and left fullbacks ventured forward hence the goal average was 1,9 percent per match.

After the break they came up with some urgency, mixed up with penetrative moves with a bit of precision in front of goal.

Three goals were written on the wall, they deserved the winning goal  placed neatly into the corner of the net by Rodwell Chinyengere, from a clever pass by  Rahman Kutsanzira.

Bulawayo City FC
In remaining fixtures I would like readers of this column to tell me if the council run team is going to escape the relegation chop at the end of the season or they are now officially down.

Byo City  vs Rhinos (Away); Byo City vs Herentials (Home); Byo City vs Triangle (Away);  Byo City  vs Dynamos ( Home ); Byo City  vs Nichrut (Away); Byo City vs Chicken Inn (Home); Byo City vs Shabanie (Away ); Byo City  vs Ngezi Platinum  (Home ); Byo City  vs Highlanders (Away ); Byo City  vs ZPC Kariba (Home); Byo City  vs Yadah (Away); Byo City  vs  CAPS Utd (Home ) ; Byo City  vs Mutare (Away ).

Look at this, they played 21 games which is 63 points and they garnered 15 points.

A team which can escape the chop probably must get 40 points and above which Byo City FC must get or must win ten games of the 15 games  left.

I know or I have heard, read the Bible which says 99,9 percent of miracles went away with Jesus Christ if so,  the city council public relations department urgently needs to call for inter-churches prayers in the city hall to plead with God to save the team because the red light is flashing fast now.

Unique way of heading
The late Tymon Mabaleka of Highlanders had a unique way of heading the ball where ordinary players are taught to jump off the strongest foot but not Tymon, he leaped up off with both feet as if the pitch was a trampoline. Rest In Peace My Teammate.

Shielding the ball
The ban on tackles from behind has encouraged players to shield the ball more with their bodies.

The late Francis Ngara of Zimbabwe Saints, the late Adam Ndlovu of Highlanders were masters at it.

If an opponent were to tackle him on his left side, Adam would immediately switch the ball to his right. If the tackle threatens on his right he would switch the ball to his left.

This means for the defender to rob  Adam of the ball, he will have to stretch his legs across the front of Adam’s path which is almost impossible to do. Rest In Peace Adam and Francis.

Physio-Team Doctor
The little man in a tracksuit who sprints on with a kit bag whenever one of his team player goes down injured or just wants a word of reassurance from a father figure.

He does absolutely nothing else all week, but just sprints on with magic bag.

When he gets to the player, much groaning takes place on the part of the player and much rubbing of the thighs and with him asking “are you alright lad?”

The thigh rubbing aspect has been responsible for the attraction of many players into football, it looks sophisticated to many.
Did you know ?
Sir Stanley Mathews of England  played  football until he was 50 years old in 1965.
