THE Air Force of Zimbabwe has commended Good Samaritans for their continued supporting of the Commander Air Force of Zimbabwe Charity Fund.
The initiative’s fundraising activities assist less privileged communities.
The Commander Air Force of Zimbabwe Charity Fund returned yesterday in Harare after the last event held in 2019.
Air Force of Zimbabwe Commander Air Marshal Jacob Nzvede expressed gratitude for the support.
“It is heartening to note that you have all positively responded to the invitation to attend and request to pay for the seats in support of the fundraising efforts by the Zimbabwe Commander Air Force of Zimbabwe Charity Fund,” he said.
“As you may be aware, the charity fund has been in existence since 2021, with the first project being undertaken in Morongwe, in Mashonaland Central province,” he said.
Air Marshal Nzvede said the charity fund has managed to construct two schools and a clinic since its inception.
It has, however, since grown to reach other communities.
“In its first initiative, the charity fund constructed a primary school, secondary school and a clinic. Since then, the charity fund has grown in terms of projects and programmes undertaken, as well as the reach,” he said.
Zimpapers Group chief executive officer Mr Pikirayi Deketeke challenged individuals and companies to participate in such programmes dedicated to raise funds for the less privileged communities.
“Earlier this year, the Commander Air Force of Zimbabwe held a charity fund, hosted a half marathon and fun day at Falcon Gold Club and today is another endeavour to raise funds that will be channelled towards charity projects,” he said.
“In the same vain, I appeal to all of us here to take ownership of the interventions and go out of our way to source donations from our friends and, in some cases, business partners to assist less privileged people in these communities.”
This year’s edition was characterised by several events, including horse racing, music and helicopter rides.
