There is no end in accolades coming in Macheso’s way. He was recently appointed Zimbabwe Red Cross humanitarian ambassador and Baker’s Inn brand ambassador.
Zimbabwe Red Cross Society national president Edison Mlambo said Macheso’s appointment comes after the society noticed his efforts to improve the welfare of the vulnerable and sick through the annual Chitungwiza Central Hospital charity show.

“As a humanitarian organisation, we are touched by the work Macheso has been doing through holding annual benefit concerts for Chitungwiza Central Hospital in the past few years.

“These concerts which he takes part in helped to improve service delivery at Chitungwiza Hospital and also contributed to its recent ISO certification.
“Macheso has also been paying school fees for orphaned and vulnerable children at Kushinga Phikelela in addition to other individual philanthropic activities. Such acts are consistent with our nationwide humanitarian interventions and we are honoured to have him as our humanitarian ambassador,” he said.

It is all well and good that for once musicians are earning a living not just as performers on stage but also starting to get something from their brand they have sweated to build over the years.

In Western countries, companies have enlisted the services of musicians and other celebrities as brand ambassadors for their products.
The world over, top-notch companies such as Nike, Adidas, Pepsi and Samsung have gained mileage from using public figures such as Michael Jackson, Tiger Woods, Beyonce, Rihanna, etc.

It is usually a win-win situation for the organisations and the artistes.
