Goromonzi, Zimbabwe — Goromonzi district in Mashonaland East Province is set to yield an impressive 20 000 metric tonnes of winter wheat this year, with the late-planted crop sown in June showing promising signs of a robust harvest.

This optimistic forecast aligns with the Government’s broader agricultural goals under Vision 2030, aimed at achieving national food security.
To facilitate the upcoming harvest, the Government has mobilised combine harvesters, ensuring that farmers can efficiently gather their crops.

The anticipated wheat harvest is part of a national effort projected to reach a record 600 000 metric tonnes across the country this season.

Successful winter wheat cropping in Goromonzi reflects improved agricultural practices and the support provided to local farmers.
Officials have emphasised the importance of increasing wheat production to reduce dependency on imports and enhance food security.

As the harvest approaches, stakeholders are optimistic that the yield will contribute significantly to the national grain reserves, supporting Zimbabwe’s food security initiatives and economic growth efforts.
