Dubbed the “Couples’ Concert”, the musical fete is the first of its kind in recent years, pitting couples who have excelled as musicians.
Besides sharing their first names Charles Chipanga and Charles Charamba have vast music experience between them and have built profiles based on professionalism, capability and a high degree of ingenuity.
The beauty of this show is that gospel lovers will not be shortchanged, when the four – who have played and performed in front of many a music fan – go on stage and strut their stuff.
The concert will start at 7pm, ending at 11pm and within that time slot, fans would be spoilt for choice, because they will have an opportunity to listen, dance and sing along to one of the greatest music compilations in recent times.
The Charambas, who are often referred to, as the “First Couple of Gospel Music” are known for their energetic and well-choreographed performances, that have seen them perform at both private and public functions.
Backed by the Fishers of Men, this couple is responsible for a string of hits which include “Sarudzai”, “Machira Chete”, “Mukadzi Musamaria” and recently “Nyika Zimbabwe”, currently receiving high rotation on local airwaves.
On the other hand, Namatai and Charles are no newcomers to the game, having spent a great deal of time as part of Oliver Mtukudzi’s Black Spirits.
Namatai took up singing in 2001 as part of Tanga wekwa Sando’s group.
She then joined Africa Revenge before settling with The Black Spirits.
As husband and wife they released their debut album “Prayer Expose (Namatayi)” in 2010.
The album carries a song titled “Talk to Somebody”, which features dendera musician Sulumane Chimbetu.
The crossover from Tuku’s katekwe music has been quite easy for the couple, who seem to have found divine favour in gospel, judging by the rave reviews and airplay that their music is getting.
