UPCOMING gospel diva, Winnie Makoni who went into hibernation after the release of debut album Jehovah Munoraira is back with new project titled Anotikundisa Jehovah.
The 10-track album carries soothing tracks that inspires gospel music lovers to repent and seek God’s face. The songs blend well with the distinct beat that would remind many of forgotten gospel diva Mercy Mutsvene.
Produced by Olin Anderson at Kunashe Studios, the album is by far a better package in terms of compositions and originality than the musician’s first project.
Songs carried on the album are Regedza muvengi, a potential thriller that encourages listeners to forgive and leave vengeance to God. On the song, Ngatiswedere pedyo, Makoni hearten people to draw closer to God and shun sin.
Other songs on the album are Zvino nehusiku, Jesu musunguri, Simbi, Wehondo, Jehovah vane tsitsi, Higher Standard, Rudo rwaJesu and Minana.
“I am now an improved brand. I took my time to come up with a polished project like this. It carries mature lyrics that would inspire Christians.
The album carries different themes such as love and forgiveness. I also sing about several other issues that affect our day-to-day lives,” she said.
Makoni draws her inspiration from gospel guru Blessing Shumba and her husband whom he described as a pillar of strength.
The silky-voiced singer who is based in Honde Valley entered the music scene in 2011 and has been holding live shows in Mutare. She lit up Blessing Shumba’s album launch when she performed for close to thirty minutes.
