Gospel music extravaganza at youth conference

IT will be a clash of gospel greats when Zim Praise, Sebastian Magacha, Mathias Mhere, worship addicts and others belt out their tunes at the Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe annual Youth Conference to be held from April 10 to 13.The conference that will take place in Chatsworth, Masvingo will see the youthful musicians take to the microphone and ministering through music.

“I will not be performing at the conference ministering God’s word through music. There will be great worship with songs like ‘Kana Chipostori Chotaurwa’, ‘Mwari Ndirangarireiwo’ and ‘Zinoirema’,” said gospel’s man of the moment, Mathias Mhere.

Zimpraise an interdenominational praise and worship group of passionate Christian musicians and denominations will  also do what they know best for God’s kingdom.

“It is our mandate to do what we are called for as our theme is ‘All about Jesus’. I grew up attending AFM and there is need to go back to the roots, not to forget where we came from. AFM church trained and nurtured us,” said Zimpraise chief executive Joseph Madziyire.

“Definitely, we shall sing a song called ‘The Power of Holy Ghost’, the spirit of God will take over. We have prepared a lot of songs aligned with the theme like ‘Sungano’, ‘Musandikanganwe’ and many others. We are going to attend the conference for two things: To worship together and the conference is different from other general conferences because it is a youth conference,” Madziyire added.

The conference will be held under the theme “Ruach/Ruwach Holy Spirit Convention”.

“It is no doubt that upon an encounter with such a powerful convention people are guaranteed of new hope, deliverance, healing and transformation. Ruach Convention is God’s divine appointment with today’s youth to impart them with anointing and spiritual blessing,” said AFM Zimbabwe national youth leader, Rev Philip Muhamba.

He added that in this time and age it is spiritually expedient and morally correct that we put uttermost emphasis on the need to function under the action of the Holy Spirit.

Rev Muhamba said the Holy Spirit was involved in the process of creation, and man cannot afford to dispel his interaction with Christians in their everyday life. However, it has become clear of late that the Church cannot function outside the influence and cover of the Holy Spirit. Without him, he said, the whole world comes to a standstill as it came into existence consequent of the creative power of this spirit.

The convention is meant to let God impact today’s generation, instill resilience and absolute confidence in the protracted spiritual combat with the world. Organisers of the forthcoming conference have urged the youths to expect the Spirit of God to give them hope in very difficult, awkward and hopeless situations.

As youths, moral decay is posing threats on true Christian values, so just as the Holy spirit was upon the face of many waters, brooding over it and keeping it warm in anticipation of new birth of the earth; he is also brooding over the church today.

“There is no need for us to panic in the face of adversity, because the Spirit of God is working out something better in our lives. In the midst of emptiness and darkness, God knows there is life there, so he allows his Spirit to brood so that life may overcome chaos. Yes, in the hub of such confrontations Ruach Elohim is there hovering over the church and darkness would soon be dispelled,” Rev Muhamba said.

Different youth leaders will speak at the conference.
