Woman wins protection order against son

Court Reporter
A Chitungwiza woman was rendered a destitute after she was chased away from her matrimonial home by her son following the death of her husband. Regina Chofinari bared it all before Chitungwiza Civil Court magistrate Ms Marehwanazvo Gofa pleading with the court to grant her a protection order against her violent son Roderick Eric. This was after Eric chased her from their Unit N house in the town forcing her to look for alternative accommodation.

“I have no access to my house anymore since he says it belongs to him after the death of my husband. He chases me away calling me names saying that I am a witch and a prostitute”, she said.

After hearing arguments from both parties, Ms Gofa granted the protection order in Chofinari’s favour and asked Eric to hand back the documents to the house.

Magistrate Gofa said “Respondent (Eric) you should give back the documents to your mother and must share the rooms. You should work hard to acquire your own properties”.
