Gospel Music Fans Set for Resurrection Rhapsody

By Maria Chiguvari

GOSPEL music fans are set to experience the best of three worlds, with South African gospel musician Dr Tumi, Nigerian diva Judikay, and a host of Zimbabwean artists headlining an upcoming gospel show.

Dubbed Resurrection Rhapsody: Let Your Soul Rise, the concert will feature Everton Mlalazi, Ellard & Sharon Cherayi, Takesure Zamar, Janet Manyowa, Minister Michael Mahendere, and Eleana Makombe. The gospel music event is scheduled for 20 April at Glamis Arena.

The highly anticipated show promises to be a celebration of both local and international talent, with Dr Tumi and Judikay’s presence adding significant star power to the night. “Joining my brothers and sisters in Zimbabwe on the 20th of April,” said Dr Tumi. Judikay, whose career in gospel music has spanned many years, also confirmed her participation.

“Zimbabwe, we come in the name of the Lord. See you on the day,” she wrote. The event is not just about one night of celebration; it also represents a broader movement within Zimbabwe’s gospel culture. The genre has been steadily gaining momentum, with local artists pushing boundaries and attracting international attention.

“Get ready to clap your hands, lift your voice, and feel the power of resurrection like never before.

“This is not just a concert — it’s a celebration of faith, hope, and joy, with heart-pounding gospel anthems, soul-stirring choir harmonies, and a spirit you can’t ignore,” said the event organisers, Tikiti Zimbabwe. The gospel genre continues to grow, with artists uniting from time to time to hold successful concerts.

Judging by the line-up, a diverse and extraordinary praise and worship experience is expected on the day.

South Africa-based Zamar is a renowned praise and worship singer in Africa who has amassed several awards and toured extensively across the continent with other gospel luminaries.

The Cherayis—Ellard and Sharon—who have enjoyed phenomenal success in recent years, will once again shine, bringing their signature energy to the stage.

The same can be said for Mlalazi, arguably one of Zimbabwe’s most consistent performers, who has held sold-out gigs in the country and collaborated with others to promote unity and love.

As for Janet Manyowa, she needs no introduction, having firmly established herself in the gospel world. In 2019, Judikay earned her place in the limelight with the release of More than Gold, a heart-warming gospel song that adores the beauty of God. She later released her debut album, Man of Galilee, which centres on the goodness of God and the gospel message.
