THE stage is set for the second edition of the All-Female Artists Awards Zimbabwe (AFAAZ) at Marina Casino, Longchen Plaza tomorrow.

Running under the theme “Let’s Do It”, the ceremony will honour and celebrate women who are striving in the arts sector.

It is a prestigious multidisciplinary award ceremony celebrating the outstanding achievements of women.

Founder of the awards, Sarah Dhliwayo, said the purpose is to raise awareness, recognise and honour the hard work and valuable contributions women of all cultures, communities, races, and beliefs, in all sectors make.

This year’s event is combined with a three-day Thuthuka Expo, where women in the arts sector interact through workshops and open markets on how to expand in the industry.

The expo started on Monday and will end today.

She said the event is meant to celebrate various contributions of women in the arts and how they have managed to balance the demands of the industry and their traditional roles in the society.

“All is set for the event, we are expecting a huge crowd to come and support all the ladies who are thriving in the arts sector as it is the women’s month.

“This year we opened a market and workshop for the ladies. This was a platform for women to showcase their craft works, fashion designs, poetry and many other side hustles they are doing within the sector.”

“Women are strong people who need to be appreciated, and they have achieved a lot in the industry regardless of being pulled down by men.

“Honorary awards will also be given to female legends, who have made a significant difference in the sector paving the way for future generations of artists,” she said.
