It is a very spiritual, inspiring and exhilarating album whose appeal was enhanced by the inclusion of talented instrumentalists like keyboardists David Sengwayo, Mark Madzinga and Tatenda Muringani, guitarists Enoch Piroro, Prayer Soul and Pureword.
In his acknowledgments, Hubert makes it clear that he owes the success of this project to Prophet Makandiwa.
“I would like to thank the Lord God of my Father Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa for the gift of life granted without measure,” he said.
“It is an honour serving under the grace of the great man of God who has been sent to our generation on a great mission.”
The album opens with the gem “I am Free” in which the artiste testifies that he is free from the bondage of the devil as a result of the grace given to him by God (Jesus Christ).
This is what he talks about in the praise song, “You Are Holy”, which is also closer in meaning to the tracks “I Found The Love”, The Lord Is My Shephered”, “You Are Awesome”, “Your Grace” and ‘Ndiye Woga”.
Loud 5 Studios, Hubert Music and Whereitsat Studios made the recording of the album possible.
The album is a must for gospel music lovers who long for a refreshing voice and beat.
Samantha Chivasa – Mwari Vanoziva
Gospel music diva Bethan Pasinawako has groomed a new singer who is heavily inspired by her music.
Her name is Samantha Chivasa, who is a member of the AFM Church which Bethan also attends.
Bethan’s presence is also felt on Samatha’s allbum “Mwari Vanoziva” after she wrote and arranged all the songs for the young musician.
Her music is also enhanced by the Midas touch of music producer Lyton Ngolomi at whose Light On Studios the album was recorded.
Listening to the album, one can be forgiven for mistaking Samantha for Bethan.
So much work went into the making of the album considering the way is very appealing to the listener.
The tracks on the album are “Irori Zita”, “Nditumei”, “Jesu Chiedza”, “We Need Love”, “Mwari Vanoziva” and “NaJesu”.
You won’t be disappointed after listening to it.
Ray Chakanyuka – Chikopokopo
Those you have attended some of Pastor Charles Charamba’s shows might know this musician.
Ray — who was inspired by Pastor Charamba — has released a good album that is set to hold its own on the music charts.
He has the voice and powerful composition skills and if he maintains that standard, he will go places.
“Chikopokopo” is the name of the seventrack album and this time Ray departs from the Charles Charamba beat to his own kind of music.
His calls his music Raycha Music after his name.
Tracks to look forward to on the album include the title track, “Chikopokopo”, “Jehovha Jaire”, “Vanouya” and “Mufananidzo”.
The inclusion of Olinda Marowa and Ngoni Kambarami on the album adds spice to the release.
Paddington Fungai Nhema – 2012 Singles
It is clear that gospel music in Zimbabwe has spawned a considerable number of artistes than any other genre as evidenced by the rate at which new artistes are storming the music scene.
It has, therefore, become a colossal task for one to winnow chaff from good grain.
But the likes of Paddington Fungai Nhema have managed to stand out from the pile of newcomers with a style that is engaging and at the same time hammering home the gospel of God.
The young artiste is gifted with a novel approach to music and given time, he can rise to a level that can make the local gospel music circles interesting and competitive.
Paddington, however, shortchanges his listeners on this album after he recorded a mere three tracks — “Jesse”, “Tiri Vana VaMwari” and “Ngatitye Mwari”.
His contemporary gospel music appeal might be the influence of music producer Prometheus at whose studio, Digital Studios the album was recorded.
All the three tracks carry a similar slant of theme in extoling God’s hallowed name.
Thomas Asani – Halleluyah: Be Glad
Here is a new voice in the gospel music scene and the artiste has a gift in singing.
His music is engaging and refreshing from the opening track to the last song, which makes all the nine tracks interesting to listen to.
In his lyrics, Asani appeals to the soul and urges people to have happiness for the gift of life.
“Rinozaruka” talks about how those who believe in God can inherit His kingdom.
The title track, “Halleluyah: Be Glad” advises people to be glad for all things in life while “Sacrifice” talks about how we should always remember the sacrifices that Jesus Christ made for us.
“Fara”, “Zviripo”, “Toimba Rwiyo”, “Treasure”, “Hamuzivi Here” and “Treasure Instrumental” make up the rest of the playlist.
The album was recorded and mixed at Artisan Studios before being mastered at Heshi Mfeshi Records.
