Government in Mighty Warriors financial boost

THE Government has come through with massive financial support for the Mighty Warriors at the ongoing COSAFA Cup tournament in Polokwane, South Africa.

Each Mighty Warrior will be pocketing US$2 700, courtesy of President Mnangagwa.

The money was handed over by the Deputy Minister of Sports, Honourable Emily Jesaya upon her arrival in Polokwane this morning.

While ZIFA will still pay the players’ allowances, appearance fees and winning bonuses, President Mnangagwa has pledged to leave no one and no place behind.

“When I visited the Mighty Warriors in camp, we had a lengthy conversation and I left with a clear picture of their needs,” said Jesaya.

“I promised them that we needed to improve their welfare, so I went to the President and presented their case.

“Iam glad we have a listening President, he came through and I am here to deliver his gift to the girls. Whether they win or lose, the girls are entitled to our support.”

The Mighty Warriors are facing Zambia this afternoon, and they are hoping for a second win in their Group B fixtures.

The match kicked off at 3pm at Seshego Stadium.
