GOVERNMENT has pledged support for the “Love Zimbabwe festival”, emphasising the importance of collaboration between the State and the Church.
Slated for September 26 to 28, the festival will feature a range of activities, including e-clinics and medical assistance for free youth activities such as soccer tournaments and spiritual healing.
Speaking at a preparatory meeting in Harare today, Harare Metropolitan Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Charles Tawengwa said the State and the Church had the same goal of serving the people.
“As I said earlier on, we are one. The Church and the State should always move together,” he said.
“There should be no separation because we are leading the same people. We are one. So I look forward to be assisting you wherever we can assist.”
International evangelist, Mr Andrew Palau, said the festival seeks to restore the love for Zimbabwe and strengthen each other in the word of God.
“I came here just to strengthen our brethren and to work with them and also to let them know that it is a life-changing festival,” he said.
“Young people will find a sense of purpose in their lives. And most of all, the church will unite.
“So we are simply asking the citizens, ‘love your country again and again’. Despite the good things and challenges we go through in every country, but fall in love with your country,” he said. o prisons and schools.
