MINISTERS and other senior Government officials have been urged to participate in the Victoria Falls Sports Tourism Festival from September 24-26.
The sports festival’s objective is to promote sports tourism, market brand Zimbabwe and create sustainable development for marginalised communities in tourism resort towns.
It is being organised by Sports Tourism Incorporation in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) and Zim Bho #Zim Yami, #vakatsha, Zimparks and the Sports and Recreation Commission.
Participants will compete in mountain biking, marathon, golf, tennis and aerobics.
“We would love to have all our ministers and Government officials coming for the festival, not only to officiate, but to compete as well. It will help us promote brand Zimbabwe and promote the initiative of Zimbabwe tourism,” said event coordinator Malvern Kanjere.
He said they were geared up for the event that will be held under strict Covid-19 health protocols.
“We are not going to take any chances; this festival will be held under strict Covid-19 health protocols and all participants must be fully vaccinated and should give us a copy of their vaccination cards, which we will submit to the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC). We will also subject participants to antegen and PCR tests as well,” said Kanjere.
