TWELVE-YEAR-OLD Muriel Mine Primary school pupil has been selected to be part of Team Zimbabwe to participate at a schools’ athletics competitions in Malawi.
PraiseGod Nyamulepa performed well at a national athletics competitions held at Alaska Mine recently.
She won her 100 metre race comfortably.
“I managed to win from the interhouse to national level competitions.
“I got into the national team.
“I want to thank my teachers for the support and also seeking help for my trip to Malawi.”
Her mother, Helen Mlumbe, said:
“I loved sports, and I used to run at secondary level. I am happy my daughter is doing well.
“She has been doing this up to the national level.
“I want her to do great and be like me.
“She is now representing her country and I pray that she gets a better school where she can get exposure.
“She is good in different sports.”
Her school sports teacher, John Banda said:
“She has talent and after we went to the provincial competitions, she came number one.
“This year, she ran for under-12, for the school team, in the district competitions for Zvimba North.
“Their pool became number one and she was selected to be in the team for Zvimba North,” he said.
“She came first in all the disciplines she participated, and she got a ticket to represent Zimbabwe.
“We advised her to specialise in sprints. She was part of the Mash West competitions.
“They are going to the Malawi schools’ games.
‘She is competing under-12, she is grade 6, she is also a netball player at her tender age.”
Guardian John Wilo hailed her.
“She has done us proud, she is a sprinter, we need her to get a passport.
“We also want her to balance school and in the field.”
