A man from Madlambuzi in Matabeleland South has been jailed for rape after a string of attacks in the village targeting elderly women.
The serial rapist Talent Moyo (27), was convicted and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for sexually abusing elderly women in the village
In a statement National Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said as police they commend the public for cooperation and collaboration which led to Moyo’s arrest.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police commends the public in Makhulela, Dupute under Madlambuzi policing area for cooperation and collaboration with the police which led to the recent arrest of a serial rapist, Talent Moyo (27),” said Commissioner Nyathi.
He said Moyo had caused trauma and panic in the community through his heinous acts of sexual abuse on the elderly women in the village.
“The accused, Talent Moyo was recently convicted by the courts and was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
He said public was free to participate in the ZRP’s Community Policing structures in order to assist in the maintenance of law and order in the country.
