Granny (72) violates court order

Brenda Zinyuke, Court Reporter

A 72-YEAR-OLD woman from Bulawayo’s Emakhandeni suburb has appeared in court for allegedly disobeying a court order which prohibited her from interacting with a man in the same suburb over a residential stand.

Marriam Dorah Konjera allegedly disobeyed the order, directing her not to threaten, physically or verbally abuse Mr Nduna Dladla (81).

Konjera was ordered not to visit stand number 4229 in Emakhandeni suburb.

The order was granted in August last year by a Bulawayo magistrate.

Konjera pleaded not guilty to contempt of court when she appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Ms Gladmore Mushove.

She told the court that the charges against her were mere fabrications as there is bad blood between her and Mr Dladla.

“Your worship, I don’t understand why the accused person at such an old age still has the guts to lie against me. He is not an Emakhandeni resident, I really don’t understand why he is fighting with us over that stand.

“The stand is ours, it belongs to the suburb’s old women and is meant for self-help projects. The city council gave us that stand sometime in the 1990s. Dladla has something against me,” she said.-@zinyuke98
