TSHOLOTSHO flood victims are set to get a major boost with organisers of the Green Concert that raised funds for Tokwe-Mukosi flood victims preparing to host another fundraising show in Bulawayo. Two weeks ago a Green Concert that featured South African songstress Zahara, Zimbabwe’s own Sandra Ndebele, Cynthia Mare and Diana Samkange was held in Harare and Bulawayo to raise funds for the Masvingo flood victims.

The organiser of the concert Derrick Mpofu said a handover ceremony is pencilled for this Friday at Chingwizi Camp site.

He said he had not forgotten the people  of Tsholotsho and there would soon be a  concert that might feature South African Lira and some Zimbabwean artistes.

“The intervention in Tsholotsho is long overdue and we are in the process of organising a concert as we are thinking of bringing Lira.
“Since we worked with Sandra Ndebele last time we shall have Albert Nyathi, Jeys Marabini,  Kwela Kings and Iyasa,” said Mpofu.

He said they were in consultations with the  leadership of Tsholotsho that are in government so that they can get an actual date for the concert.

“We are still in consultations with the local  leaders in government over what can be done and what exactly is needed. I have a tentative  date for the concert that is beginning of July.  This is when we are thinking of bringing Lira for  the concert. But as you know these things are a process, we hope it we can organise as soon as possible,” said Mpofu.

Turning to the Friday donation, Mpofu said the items to be handed over would include educational and building materials.

“We are still doing a bit of logistics but we are ready to hand over goods to the flood victims. We have food, blankets, clothes and building materials. There is an urgent need for us to intervene and we are going to do so by Friday,” said Mpofu.
