THE Billy Rautenbach-bankrolled Pacific Storm Eastern Region Division One side, GreenFuel FC chairman, Fred Moyo, believes reclaiming their slot in the Castle Lager Premiership will not be an easy task but achievable.
The Lowveld outfit shift their focus to the Munhumutapa Cup this weekend when they face Power FC at the GreenFuel Arena on Sunday, while Buffaloes host Bikita Minerals at Mutare Showgrounds on Saturday (tomorrow).
Be that as it may, the fight for the sole Premiership promotional ticket is what most clubs in the league are preoccupied with, especially the well-financed ones, GreenFuel FC included.
The Chisumbanje-based team, operating from the Community Social Responsibility proceeds of ethanol production, thus the moniker Ethanol Boys, were relegated from the Premiership at the end of last season under coach, Rodwell Dhlakama.
GreenFuel were not really a bad side, and probably look back with partly regret at how some match officials handled their matches, no wonder why the club is geared to fight to their last drop of blood in their quest to make a quick return to the big boys of domestic football.
While acknowledging that Premiership return will not be an easy feat, their chairman, Moyo, believes his team has all what it takes to reclaim their place in the top-flight league.
“To be honest, this is not an easy task (regaining promotion into PSL). There are teams in the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Division One League that want to attain the same feat, and they are equally determined to achieve that.
“But at the end of the day, that is the essence of the game of football. It actually makes the game of football exciting when you have such competition. It is different from the olden days when one team would go all the way to win Premiership promotion without tasting the rigours of Division One football.
“As a club, we have never made it a secret. We want to be back in the Premiership, and we are working towards achieving that. We are confident that with a little bit of hard-work we will achieve that, and our players as well as our coaches are well aware of our objectives,” said the affable Moyo.
With 24 points, Yadah have opened a four-point lead at the summit of the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Division One League, with GreenFuel and Deportivo La Murambinda tied on second position after amassing 20 points.
With 10 rounds f league matches played so far, fellow title aspirants, Africa Minerals Ventures are on fourth position with 19 points, while Tenax FC and Bikita Minerals have amassed 18 points each respectively.
