EMPOWERMENT lobby group Economic Empowerment (EEG) has threatened to name and shame companies and individuals involved in foreign currency manipulation, describing them as economic saboteurs.
Speaking at a press conference, EEG executive in charge of public relations Mr Joseph Chikazaza said they have names of companies involved in foreign currency manipulation and that in turn fuels inflation and the rise in prices.
“We have names of companies and individuals who are involved in foreign currency manipulation. Those people are sabotaging the Second Republic and President Mnangagwa’s efforts to build the economy to achieve Vision 2030.
“We will name and shame them in a few weeks’ time after thorough investigations with the help of key stakeholders. We cannot allow a situation where a few individuals are holding the nation at ransom for their own selfish gains. As EEG we are behind President Mnangagwa’s vision and anyone found playing games with the country’s economy should face the wrath of the law,” said Mr Chikazaza.
Another EEG executive Mr Basil Mapako said the EEG is going to work with the Government through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe to identify those individuals who are causing uncertainty in the market.
“We can’t keep quiet while our incomes are being eroded by the economic pressures. We cannot have any economy controlled by speculative behaviour,” he said.
Mr Mapako also urged Government employees to work towards implementing Government programmes that are people-centred.
