Guard charged with attempted murder

A security guard who allegedly hacked his girlfriend with a machete after an altercation has been charged with attempted murder.
Borendo Mavhura (52) on Tuesday appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Don Ndirowei who remanded him in custody to March 13.
He has been advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
Prosecutor Ms Memory Chidavaenzi alleges that on February 24 this year Mavhura had a dispute with his girlfriend, Yeukai Ushlalu, after accusing her of impulsive spending.
The court heard that Mavhura picked a machete and struck Ushlalu several times on the head and hands until she fell unconscious.
Neighbours took Yeukai to hospital and reported the matter to the police leading to Mavhura’s arrest.
