Manicaland, 19 September 2024 — THE Gudyanga Irrigation Scheme in Ward 20 has successfully cultivated 8.5 hectares of winter wheat, with 7.1 hectares progressing from the soft dough to hard dough stage. Agricultural experts project an impressive yield of 5 tonnes per hectare, indicating a potential boost to local food security.
The scheme, which is part of ongoing efforts to enhance agricultural productivity in the region, has faced challenges in the past due to climate variability and resource limitations. However, this year’s favourable growing conditions have raised hopes for a bountiful harvest.
