Gunmen storm Harare grocery shop, make off with US$8 705

In a shocking display of brazen criminality, three heavily armed suspects stormed a bustling grocery shop in Chitungwiza and made off with US$8 705.

On 26 October 2024, the masked gunmen burst into the store, sending customers and staff scrambling for cover.

Armed with a handgun, three unidentified suspects stormed the shop, fired a warning shot into the ceiling, and forced staff and customers to take cover before stealing US$8 705 from the till.

After the heist, the trio sped away in a Honda Fit.

In an official statement on X, the police said they are looking for information which may assist in the investigation of a robbery that took place at a grocery shop at Tilcor Industry, Chitungwiza.

“Three unknown suspects who were armed with an unidentified pistol stole US$8 705 cash from two till drawers in the shop after firing one shot into the roof and ordering shop workers and customers to lie down. The suspects drove away in a Honda Fit vehicle. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.”
