Gunners’ Sekete shakes off injury

Earlier reports had suggested that Sekete was unhappy at Gunners and was considering a move elsewhere.
The player’s contract with Gunners comes to an end on December 31 this year.
But Madira said the midfielder only strained his ankle during training and was expected to join his teammates as they step up preparations for the new season.
Gunners will play CAPS United on Thursday in a friendly match that has been slated for the National Sports Stadium.
Sekete is probably the only injury worry and it could not be ascertained if he will be fit for the practice match.   
“He strained his ankle during practice and we had to rest him for the match against Dynamos,” said Madira.
“It’s not a serious injury though and we expect him to begin training this week,” he said.
Madira, who was elevated into the hot seat following the departure of Moses Chunga, revealed that his youthful outfit will be gunning for a top four finish in the Premiers Soccer League race this year.
Chando Kupisa ended fifth last year following a spirited second half recovery.
They will be hoping for a better start this year and Madira believes his side has the capacity after beefing up their squad with a number of players like William Manondo, Felix Kuswatuka, Tendai Nyamadzawo, Blessing Sande and returning midfielder Tapiwa Mangezi.
Gunners have so far played friendly games with Harare City, Blue Ribbon and Dynamos and Madira believes they still need to improve.
“There are few areas that need polishing up but we are ready for the league. We are not under any pressure.
“Our aim is to finish in the top four and boost chances of playing in the Confederation Cup,” said Madira.
“We haven’t finalised the squad yet but we are hoping to do that tomorrow (today).
“But I am glad to say there has been an improvement especially with the new guys gelling well with the old guard.
“It’s always the finishing part that has been problematic and the transition from defence to attacking. Otherwise we are ready to play.”
Gunners suffered a big player exodus last season.
The club, which parted ways with 14         players during the mid-season transfer window last year, suffered another setback when captain Qadr Amini, Ali Sadiki, Ishamel Lawe, Michelle Katsvairo and goalkeeper George Chigova left for greener pastures elsewhere in the Premiership during the off-season break.
