THE Guta Ra Mwari (Zvimiso) Church has expressed sorrow and grief following the death of the organisation’s secretary general, Evangelist Barnabas Chimoto, on Friday last week.
In a statement, the church said regardless of challenges, Evangelist Chimoto stood resolute, leading with a gentle yet steadfast hand, his voice being an embodiment of grace and clarity.
“It is with profound sorrow and immeasurable grief that we announce the passing of our revered secretary general, Evangelist B.B. Chimoto, on April 4, 2025,” reads the statement.
“Surrounded by the love of his family, his spirit peacefully departed from this world, leaving behind an indelible legacy of wisdom, compassion, and unwavering service. His departure marks the end of a chapter, yet his influence and teachings shall echo through the corridors of time.
“Baba BB Chimoto was a beacon of strength and guidance for Guta Ra Mwari (Zvimiso) and globally, a man whose devotion to faith, unity, and peace touched lives far and wide.”
The church said their late leader’s tireless dedication to the community, both near and distant, illuminated paths of spiritual growth, social harmony and cultural preservation.
“As secretary general, Evangelist Chimoto was more than a leader, he was a mentor, a friend and a spiritual guide.
“His love for the people he served knew no bounds, and his legacy is woven into the very fabric of our lives. In every moment of his leadership, the church said Evangelist Chimoto exemplified the ideals of faith, love and humility, building a foundation upon which generations to come will continue to stand.
“In this moment of profound loss, we pray that his family finds eternal comfort and solace in God’s loving embrace, and that they are wrapped in peace as they journey through this sorrowful time.
“We extend an invitation to the broader community, both near and far, to join us in honouring the life and legacy of Guta Ra Mwari Religion, Secretary General B.B. Chimoto. Let us gather, in solemn remembrance, to celebrate his remarkable contributions, his boundless kindness, and the enduring principles he embodied,” said the church.
A final memorial service will be held on Saturday, the 12th of April 2025, starting from 8AM at Guta Ra Mwari (Zvimiso) headquarters in Mpopoma.
He will be laid to rest at PaZororo Gardens, Westpark Cemetery, Bulawayo.
“Though we mourn, we take solace in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, living on in every act of compassion, every step toward unity, and every moment of faith we share in his memory. May his dearly departed soul find eternal rest in God’s loving arms,” said the church.— @SikhulekelaniM1
