Gutu folk urged to develop area

“We gave children books so that they can have a better future,” he said.
“In other areas, people have diamonds and platinum, but in Gutu we came up with a unique community share scheme, which will empower people.”
Gutu District Education Officer Mr Sylvester Tererai said the Ministry                 of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture was grateful for the prizes for ceremony were sponsored by schools with                assistance from the business community.
“The business people in the area, Mr Themba Musekiwa, TM, Transport, Brandts Butchery and non-governmental organisation World Vision also contributed towards the prizes that were given to students,” he said.
Mr Tererai said the community was constructing a resource centre, which would be used as a library, hall, computer room and office for staff.
The building is being constructed with assistance from Delta Corporation in Gutu, the Mtizwa Family Trust and the Gutu business community.
Students and pupils who excelled in academic, sport, arts and culture received prizes ranging from books to cash.
