GWANDA Giants succumbed to a 66-run defeat to ZRP Matabeleland South in the third Twenty20 cricket game at Portland Primary School in Colleen Bawn on Saturday.

The Matabeleland South cops won the toss and sent Gwanda Giants to bat. The Giants struggled to cope with the policemen’s bowling attack and were dismissed for 66 runs.

Donald Vhengere ended with three wickets from his four overs, which included two maidens, while Decent Goronga also weighed in with three wickets from three overs.

Agent Chitsinde masterminded ZRP Matabeleland South’s successful chase with an unbeaten 39 runs as they easily overhauled the Giants’ low score of 66 runs.

“Development of cricket in Matabeleland South is moving at a faster pace, thanks to support from ZRP, Gwanda Giants, Gwanda High School, St Christopher’s Primary, Jahunda Primary and Senondo Primary School. We had quite a sizeable crowd of enthusiasts, particularly primary schools,” said Arthur Maphosa, Matabeleland South Cricket Association chairman.
