Gwanda Giants secure sponsorship

This was confirmed by an official yesterday.

The club had suspended their participation due to lack of funds.

Head coach for Gwanda Giants, Silandulelwe Mabhena, said the executive members sat down and decided to put together funds so as to fulfil the six games they are left with to complete the season.

“We are coming back to the league this weekend. We have not been given the fixtures yet but what I can say is that the executive members sat down and contributed towards funding the games,” said Mabhena.

Fourth-placed Gwanda Giants are sitting at 21 points with six games to go.

Gwanda Giants consists of Gwanda High School students.

The headmaster of the school who is also active in Nash activities is one of the pioneers of a new drive by schools to see participation in a number of disciplines throughout the year.

On Friday last week the school appealed to the corporate world for funding.

This was after the school’s coffers dried up.

“The school cannot continue sponsoring the club and this means we might find ourselves pulling out of the league if we do not get another sponsor.

“We therefore make an appeal to well-wishers to come on board and help us out financially,” Mabhena said.
