Gwanda – Tshitaudze legislator, Cde Fisani Manala Moyo, has pledged support for the smooth reintegration of Zimbabweans returning from South Africa, saying communities should embrace returnees and help them rebuild their lives with dignity.

His remarks follow President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s call on Zimbabweans to warmly welcome fellow citizens returning home, whether through Government-assisted repatriation or on their own.

In a statement, Cde Moyo said the Government had begun the voluntary repatriation of Zimbabwean nationals from South Africa following concerns over possible civil unrest.

“My fellow constituents whom I hold in high esteem, I would like to inform you that the Government has initiated the voluntary repatriation of our brothers and sisters from the Republic of South Africa,” he said.

Cde Moyo said his constituency office is ready to help and urged all returnees from Gwanda-Tshitaudze to visit the office for support.

“All returnees from Gwanda-Tshitaudze are free to come to my constituency office. My team is on standby to help you reintegrate with dignity,” he said.

Cde Moyo said the office will assist with documents, food support, referrals for temporary shelter and school placement for children.

The MP said returnees are important to Zimbabwe’s growth plan. “Our National Vision 2030 aims for an upper-middle-income economy built on unity and productivity. You, our returning sons and daughters, are vital to that vision,” he said.

He noted that in some instances, many returnees arrive with limited resources and hence they need everyone’s support to reintegrate.

The MP said while the country faces economic pressures and climate challenges, the Government is committed to leaving no one behind.

Cde Moyo also urged residents to reject rumours or unfounded stereotypes and to welcome returnees with Ubuntu.

“My office will work with the District Development Coordinator, Social Welfare and relevant Ministries to ensure your immediate welfare needs are addressed. Let us reject rumour and speculation,” he said.

“Zimbabwe is a peaceful nation. Under the Second Republic, we are rebuilding together. I urge all community members to welcome returnees with Ubuntu and assist where possible.”
