AFRO-acoustic band, Gwevedzi, has dismissed reports that the group has split following the departure of lead vocalist Nyasha Murada, who has started a solo project.

The band, which includes guitarist Tinashe Masangudza, bassist Wilfred Nikisi and drummer Keith Musena, said in a statement that the decision was driven by Murada’s desire for creative freedom and personal growth.

While the group is searching for a replacement for Murada, it says there is no bad blood between the two parties.

“We didn’t split, Nyasha wants to start his own thing chinoshevedzwa nezita rake.

“We will have some gigs together but, at the moment, he is still working on how his solo project can move, and there is no bad blood between us.

“We are going to find a replacement, but it will take some time as we have embarked on a journey of discovering, developing and delivering new gems.

“We wish him a successful career and support his continued personal growth,” said Tinashe.
