A HAILstorm hit Henderson Research Station in Mazowe, causing damage to houses and properties.

The storm, which lasted for about two hours and started at around 6pm, caused destruction to Guyson Kuruneri Secondary School, where students are sitting for their final O-Level exams.

The headmaster, one Mr Nhariswa, said it was an intensive storm which hit the school with destructive ferocity.

Many houses at the station were also damaged, with some a number replacing their roofs with plastic cover.

Peter Manyande, a resident at the research station, spent the whole night mopping water to protect his possessions after his house was severely damaged.

“I didn’t sleep at all last night due to the storm. I spent the whole night mopping the floors to make sure that my property is safe,” said Manyande.

There was a power cut after the storm.
