Handball junior teams conclude camp

THE Zimbabwe Handball Federation technical director Farai Gwisai says their Under-20 and Under-18 men’s teams are making good progress in their preparations for the International Handball Federation Trophy Zone VI.

The teams were in camp at Girls High School and had part of their training sessions at Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex.

The regional tournament is set for October 17 to 23 in Harare.

“What I can say is the camp went well. Both the Under-18 and Under-20 came.

“We decided to cut the numbers since we had already held trials. So we brought in 40 players, 20 per age-group after removing those that did not make the grade.

“What I am happy with is the fitness level. We have managed to improve because now players have more time for practice. So, now this is the time to deal with tactics, defence and attack.
“In general their performance is okay,” said Gwisai.

Cephas Mushati is in charge of the Under-20 side and Alan Mandeya is leading the Under-18 side.

The teams are expected back in camp next month to continue with the preparations.
