INDUSTRIAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT

OBJECTIVES

1. Promote and attract industrial growth and development in the city.

2. Lower barriers to industrial production and competitiveness.

3. Stop extractive industrial trade and promote value addition and beneficiation.

4. Promote green industry or circular economy in the city.

PROPOSED INTERVENTIONS

1. Discourage conversion of industrial land to other uses.

2. Provide 5-to-10-year incentives (statutory fee and building plan exemptions and tax breaks) for manufacturing-oriented industries.

3. Engage central government to address factors limiting industrial activity (reliable power, water, macro-economic environment).

4. Promote utilisation of industrial space for value addition and beneficiation for critical raw materials.

5. Promote green industry or circular economy practices.

LOCAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

OBJECTIVES

1. Promote development of local economic production hubs across the city.

PROPOSED INTERVENTIONS

1. Provide modern industrial spaces for local economic production hubs.

2. Promote use of bio-degradable products or waste from industries as inputs for downstream industries.

INFORMAL SECTOR

OBJECTIVES

1. Promote development of informal sector growth and formalisation value chains.

PROPOSED INTERVENTIONS

1. Designate and provide modern flex-spaces, work spaces, and informal sector hubs.

2. Designate certain streets for informal trading for specific hours or days.

3. Address space barons and promote community management of informal sector hubs to improve tax and revenue collection.
