HARARE CITY Volleyball team is here and out to make a difference.

These were the words of Harare Mayor Hebert Gomba, speaking at a fundraising function for the Municipal side expected to travel to South Africa for the Zone Six Club Championships later this month.

“I have been advised that since the launch of Harare City Volleyball club, the club has been running with the theme “Organizing for Success” and indeed the club has been successful both on the pitch and administratively,” he said.

“The Club has been successful through and through, and in 2018, the club has moved a gear up and is running with the theme “Encourage, Empower and improve the welfare of Youth (Girl Child) through Volleyball”.

“The club has collaborated with Social Services section under the department of Housing and Community services.

“Their coaches are currently running voluntary community coaching in all suburbs in Harare.

”I call upon other sporting disciplines to follow suit,” he said.

“If we are to fully optimize sport as a vehicle to support the implementation of national priorities, we need to collaborate and coordinate the efforts across the private, public and people sectors,” he said.

The team is set to participate in the 2018 Zone 6 Club Championships, slated for Durban, South Africa November 30-December 8.
