A HARARE man who conned two local service stations of 100 litres of petrol has been fined $200 by a Mutare court. Samuel Muti (33) was convicted on his own plea of guilty when he appeared before Mr Langton Mukwengi. Muti was ordered to restitute the two complainants, Redan and Petrol Trade service stations or risk imprisonment. It was the state’s case that on October 19, the accused had his Toyota Noah fuel tank filled up with 50litres at Petrol Trade Service Station and sped off without paying anything.

“The following day, Muti made the same move at Redan Service Station after filling another 50litres of petrol into his fuel tank,” said Ms Christine Mwenga. However, the fuel attendant, Patrick Makedenge tracked him down with his own vehicle. Muti was arrested at the tollgate just outside Mutare on the Harare-Mutare road.
