HARARE, Zimbabwe — Today, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Harare Metropolitan Province Charles Tawengwa, officially launched the Presidential Agricultural Inputs (Pfumvudza/Intwasa) programme at Domboramwari School in Epworth.

This initiative aims to enhance food security across the region, aligning with the theme, “Food Security Every Time, Everywhere.”

The Pfumvudza/Intwasa Programme is designed to support smallholder farmers by providing them with essential agricultural inputs, including seeds and fertilizers, to ensure successful crop production. This season, the Government emphasises the importance of sustainable agricultural practices to combat food shortages exacerbated by climate change and economic challenges.

Minister Tawengwa highlighted the Government’s commitment to improving agricultural productivity and empowering local farmers. “This programme is a vital step towards ensuring that every household has access to sufficient food, thereby enhancing our nation’s resilience against food insecurity,” said the minister.

The launch comes at a critical time as Zimbabwe continues to face challenges related to food production, with many communities relying heavily on Government support to meet their basic needs. Local farmers expressed optimism about the initiative, hoping it will provide the necessary resources to increase their yields and contribute to the overall food supply in the country.

As the programme rolls out, stakeholders are encouraged to participate actively, ensuring that the benefits reach the intended recipients and contribute to the broader goals of national food security.
