be held in the capital next month.
The tournament, which draws teams from the country’s 10 provinces, is pencilled to take place from Friday at the RBZ Sports Club.
Zimbabwe National Darts Association president Meynard Moyo yesterday said some clubs in Harare have started playing social matches in preparation for the Easter tournament.
“Each province runs its own league and all provinces should start their leagues by the second week of March in preparation of the Easter Tournament to be held in Harare.
“The host province started their games last week and it seems they are very excited with the new playing rules which we introduced.
“We used to play for 11 points in the old rules but now we are competing for 39 points.
“Harare reigning champions Seedco will meet stiff completion from runners-up Transmedia and third-placed Jewel Arrows.”
Seedco’s Tobias Mavhima has declared the club’s intentions to retain the championship while Fisher Nyamukapa of Jewel Arrows and Edison Kondo of Transmedia believe there will be great competition this season.
The other team to watch is Waterfalls, led by Sylvester Muchanyu.
“We are happy with our game. People are changing their perceptions towards the game and seem they appreciate our efforts towards its development,” said Moyo.
Harare’s 14 registered teams include Police, Seedco, Blue Jobs, White House, Water Falls,Chipaz ‘A’, Transmedia, Reserve Bank, Astindale rebels, Prison Warriors, Mbare Arrows, Arcturus Mine and Flying Eagles.
