HARD KNOCKS

LONDON. – Sweating profusely as he lay on a hospital bed in agonising pain, Tom confronted his darkest fear: “They are going to have to chop my (manhood) off.”

The porn star, 36, from Essex, had taken a dangerous double dose of Viagra-type drugs that are sweeping his X-rated profession – and was later told by doctors that he was lucky not to have suffered a fatal heart attack.

Tom is among a staggering number of Brits to be hospitalised after using erectile dysfunction medication, estimated at 518 fellas in the year to March 2025.

It is a particular concern in the adult industry, with one director telling The Sun that ‘around 95 per cent of male performers’ are now even injecting themselves with ‘performance enhancing’ drugs to keep up in the era of viral stars like Bonnie Blue.

Like many who ended up in hospital, Tom suffered priapism – where oxygen is cut off from the manhood due to an erection lasting for more than four hours. In the most serious cases, it can lead to life-threatening sepsis or necrolysis, where the tissue dies and rots.

Others suffer potentially lifelong damage that risks their ability to have sex.

Former roofer Tom’s todger had turned purple and was “three times bigger than normal” after being erect for more than 24 hours by the time he sought urgent medical care.

“It felt like my (manhood) was going to explode,” he tells The Sun.

“I was in so much pain and couldn’t ejaculate. I knew something was very wrong.

“In the hospital, I was really anxious. I kept thinking of the worst thing they could do – chop it off.

“I was sat beside my partner holding her hand, saying, ‘I’m going to lose my (manhood).’

“They drained my (manhood) once and then blue-lighted me to another hospital, where they did it again, because it wasn’t going down.

“Because the blood was trapped there it was starting to congeal. My (manhood) was three times bigger than normal and turned purple before going black after the two operations.

“Doctors said I was lucky not to have had a heart attack and even after the surgeries they were worried that a blood clot would go up to my heart and kill me.

“I would strongly warn against using viagra-products unless you absolutely need to. I shouldn’t have dosed-up twice, it was a really stupid thing to do.”

Tom could not have imagined the “world of pain” he would find himself in after abusing erectile dysfunction medication in December last year.

He took a double dose ahead of filming two porn shoots in a day.

His first was Cialis, which is known as “the weekend pill” due to lasting up to 36 hours, at midday.

Tom then followed that two hours later with Kamagra – a super-strength Viagra jelly that’s illegal to buy or sell in the UK, but widely available online.

“I was quite new to the porn industry, so I didn’t realise it was going to be so strong,” he says.

“I kind of knew something was wrong but I had a few bookings and didn’t feel like I could let anyone down. By the end, my (manhood) was still up and was hurting a lot.”

After racing to hospital, doctors were deeply concerned and drained his manhood using two needles to extract blood from his severely swollen member. Tom said: “They ended up removing a litre of blood but it kept on filling back up again because of the Viagra drugs I had used and the blood congealing.

“It was really scary. I remember sitting up watching it happen, it was deeply traumatic to be honest.

“The operation was really uncomfortable and the weirdest sensation but I was just grateful they weren’t going to have to chop off my (manhood).”

How does Viagra work?

SIDENAFIL – the main ingredient in Viagra – belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) inhibitors.

It works if you have erection problems by temporarily increasing blood flow to your manhood when you get sexually excited.

It also works in pulmonary hypertension by relaxing blood vessels in your chest.

This increases the blood supply to your lungs and reduces the workload of your heart.

Men over 18 can take the pills for ED and most adults and children aged over one can take sildenafil for pulmonary hypertension.

Sildenafil is not suitable for some people.

To make sure it’s safe for you, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking sildenafil if you:

Have ever had an allergic reaction to sildenafil or any other medicine

Are taking medicines called nitrates for chest pain (angina)

Have a serious heart or liver problem

Have recently had a stroke, heart attack or a heart problem – your doctor should carefully check whether your heart can take the additional strain of having sex.

Have low blood pressure (hypotension)

Have a rare inherited eye disease, such as retinitis pigmentosa.

Have sickle cell anaemia (an abnormality of red blood cells), leukaemia (cancer of blood cells) or multiple myeloma (cancer of bone marrow).

Have a deformity of your manhood or Peyronie’s disease (curved manhood)

Have a stomach ulcer

Have a bleeding problem like haemophilia. – The Sun Club
