Sibanda had been fined US$1 000 for attempted match-fixing just before the match involving his club Hardbody and Gweru Pirates.
The State witness, Albert Mbuse, who had handled the match, reported Sibanda to soccer authorities and presented the match commissioner the US$200 given to him by Cosmas Nyoni.
In another matter, Harare City could have all but won a reprieve when the Zifa Appeals Committee yesterday referred the matter brought by DStv, challenging City’s use of Webster Muronda, back to the Northern Region for further investigations.
The committee ordered the Northern Region to thoroughly investigate Muronda’s contract of employment with Eastern Region outfit AMC before undertaking any disciplinary action in the matter.
“We refer back the matter to the Northern Region to conduct investigations on Webster Muronda’s contract of employment with AMC considering evidence given by AMC upon which the matter may be referred to the disciplinary committee.
“This must be done within 14 days,” read part of the verdict.
Part of evidence show that AMC terminated their contract with Muronda and never collected the player’s licence from the Eastern Region office.
The matter had been taken to the Appeals Committee after the Misheck Hogwe-chaired Northern Region Disciplinary Committee had found Harare City guilty of using Muronda and docked them 18 points.
This gave Dstv the title and with it promotion into the Premier Soccer League.
Harare City appealed against the decision.
