HARDROCK coach Kelvin Kaindu insists his title-chasing newcomers are under no pressure as they seek to close the three-point gap on Castle Lager Premier Soccer League leaders Scottland away to FC Hunters today.

Hunters, five points above the relegation zone, need the same three points to strengthen their survival bid.

“We are glad that we have narrowed the gap between ourselves and the league leaders. With eight games left, there is quite a lot to fight for,” said Kaindu.

“We’ve got no pressure. Our main objective was to stay in the Premier League and, as it stands, we are not going to fight relegation. We now want to consolidate our position.”

Kaindu has an almost full squad available. Veteran midfielder Masimba Mambare has been ruled out through injury, while Prince Dube is back in training.

The Hardrock coach expects a difficult match against a Hunters side he praised for its organisation and patience in possession.

“They play organised football and understand their formation. They are comfortable on the ball and are not in a hurry.

“We believe it will be a game the fans will enjoy.”

Hunters coach Nesbert Saruchera believes home advantage gives his young side a chance against the championship contenders.

“It’s not going to be easy. We are going to play one of the best teams, a well-assembled team,” said Saruchera.

“We desperately need the three points. They also need them, but we are playing at home, so that is an advantage for us.”

Saruchera has been encouraged by Hunters’ recent form and says their survival push will depend on collective effort rather than one player.

“I’m happy with the way the boys are playing at the moment. We are just praying to God that we maintain that form until the end of the season.

“Normally, we play as a unit. I can’t single out anyone as our trump card. We fight very hard as a team.”
