Harris dominates race day

D’aquaino broke the ice when jockey Lance Pagel rode Queen Katya (5) to win the Juvenile Plate 1000m as it finished a lens ahead of Only Good with rider Kevin Derere.
Coming at number one, Only Good finished half a lens ahead of stablemate Itty Bitty Pretty by Susan Gail Odendaal.
Storm In May (4) by Swanson cantered to a 3,5 lens win in the Merit Handicap 2200m with Sherman Brown on board.
Lady Lecture secured a second place and was 3 lens ahead of Detectorist and Swanson also got the winning stakes in race seven when the favourite Midigan stopped the clock in 1 min 37.84 seconds to win the Zimbabwe Guineas Trials 1600m by one and quarter lens.
In second place was Janey (7) with Woodford Express coming 5 lens behind in one of the feature races of the day.
But the race day belong to Harris as she dominated with the seasoned equine athlete Earl of Surrey beating Winter’s Night by a nose to win the closely contested Toyota Pinnacle Plate over 1600m.
The sprint was rescheduled to Sunday after it was washed out two weeks ago and Earl of Surrey was given a good run for his money.
Seasoned campaigner Captains’ Tiger came from Swanson and managed to get a place in the sprint that attracted a classy field of nine runners.
There was nothing to stop the dominating Harris yard from taking race two with Kiabella, ridden by Derreck David, winning by four lens.
Currently leading the trainer’s index at Borrowdale, Harris consolidated her position as she sent Coffee Club with Gavin Lerena to the starting stalls for the Novice Plate race to beat Chando by a lens.
